Developmental Edit

With a developmental edit, our editors at Imagine Press will read the manuscript, scrutinize tension, pace, and story structure, and then monitor how that all relates to emotional stakes, which is the true source of reader interest. They’ll examine the “big picture” and focus on plot, character development, and point of view.

The manuscript will be sent back with revisions done in track changes, along with an editorial letter explaining everything the editor saw in the manuscript with suggestions on how to fix any issues they encountered.

Think of it as attending a manuscript masterclass, which several of our editors routinely do at writer’s conferences.

Email us ten pages in a Word doc, double-spaced, for an obligation-free editorial interview. Our editors will revise those ten pages and send them back to you at no charge. If you like what you see and want to work with Imagine Press, we will assess a fair quote and go from there.

All manuscripts are edited to New York publishing standards as per the Chicago Manual of Style in American English. British English or Canadian English is available upon request.
