Rania Stone writes psychological thrillers set in Greece, where sunlit islands hide very dark secrets. Her novels include Zero Trust and What He Didn’t Know, and, co-written with Jonas Saul, A Wife in Ruins and The Truth Is a Lie.
Leslie Johnson
Leslie Johnson has six published books. She writes mostly literary fiction from the perspective of strong female characters, though one is a romantic comedy. She’s a born storyteller who can turn an ordinary event into a tale that leaves listeners unsure where reality ends, and fiction begins. For The Gathering, she brings that gift into darker territory.
Broken Promises tells the story of two vulnerable people who promise to protect each other from their weaknesses. When things go wrong, one of them uses those flaws to destroy the other beyond repair. The damage can’t be undone, and life moves on … for one of them.
Julia Makka
Julia Makka lives by one verb: play. She has played chess at the highest level as a Woman International Master and FIDE Trainer. She was Greek Women’s Champion in 2018, five-time Greek Girls’ Champion, and competed for Greece at the 2022 Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
She plays on stage and screen as an actress in theater, television, and film, and holds a Master’s in Greek and World Theatre. Along the way, she has played music, studied dance, and earned a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Now she has found a new game in writing, and she plays it with the same wit and nerve she brings to the chessboard.
Sylvia Moore
Sylvia Moore has been published twice in Greece. She studied cinematography and is a notorious reader. She is also an impostor in more ways than she cares to admit.
Her favorite author is Marcel Proust, though at night she trades him for Freida McFadden. She loves every living creature and would never willingly hurt a fly. In her dreams, however, people tend to die.
Her story, “Look What You’ve Done,” is about accountability, the masks people wear, and the uncomfortable moment when those masks begin to slip.
Cam Renard
Cam Renard has never stayed with one thing for too long. Writing is the newest step he has taken, and he’s drawn to the worlds of fantasy and the pulse of a good thriller, with a few darker corners along the way
Echoes of the Stone Hound is Cam’s first published short story, leaning more into the horror/mystery atmosphere.
When he’s not writing, Cam plays music in a band, streams video games, and works a rotating cast of odd jobs. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife, two cats, and a dog.
Meg Vesper
Meg Vesper is a Massachusetts-based writer with a master’s degree in forensic psychology who is completing graduate training in counseling.
She enjoys exploring complicated motives, unsettling relationships, and the darker possibilities beneath ordinary encounters.
“Three Minutes, Twelve Seconds,” featured in The Gathering, is her first published short story. When she’s not writing, she enjoys crafting, playing video games with her husband, and spending time with her corgi, Bella Luna.
